Welcome to Learn Tai Ahom (টাই আহোম ভাষা শিকোঁ আহক), an educational mobile application developed by independent researcher and software creator Utpal Phukan under the Project Jahnabi language initiative (https://jahnabi.net).

This Privacy Policy explains how our Android application (Package: com.taiahom.learning) handles user data, permissions, and security. We are committed to protecting your privacy and adhere strictly to a zero-personal-data-collection architecture.

1. Information We Do NOT Collect

When using Learn Tai Ahom, you are never required to create an account, register, or provide any personal credentials. Specifically, we do not collect:

• Personal Identifiable Information (PII): No names, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, or governmental IDs.
• Location Data: No GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular, or IP-based location tracking.
• Device & Hardware Identifiers: No IMEI, MAC address, Advertising ID (AAID), or hardware serials.
• Usage Analytics: No tracking of which screens you open, buttons you tap, or how much time you spend studying.
• Microphone & Audio Recordings: The app does not record your voice or request microphone access. Audio pronunciation guides are pre-packaged and played back locally.

2. On-Device Storage & Learning Progress

To provide an engaging gamified learning experience, the app stores your educational milestones locally on your device:

• Completed lesson IDs, stars, and XP points.
• Word game scores (Crossword, Word Search, Flashcards).
• UI display preferences (such as Dark Mode toggle).

This data is saved strictly inside the Android sandbox private storage (using Android SharedPreferences and local encrypted file vaults). This data never leaves your device and is permanently wiped when you uninstall the application.

3. In-App Purchases & Licensing Architecture

Learn Tai Ahom provides foundational levels (letters, basic vocabulary, and initial spoken dialogues) free of charge. Users may optionally unlock the full historical lexicon and advanced Buranji readings through a one-time in-app purchase:

• Google Play Billing: All financial transactions and payment processing are handled directly and securely by Google Play Services via the official Google Play Billing Library. We never see, handle, or store your credit/debit card numbers, UPI credentials, or bank details.
• Server Purchase Verification: When a user purchases or restores the premium unlock, an anonymous cryptographic purchase token generated by Google Play is transmitted over an encrypted HTTPS connection to our backend server (jahnabi.net). The server checks with the Google Play Developer API to confirm order authenticity and returns a decryption key.
• Anonymous Device Registry: To prevent software piracy while allowing users to restore purchases across their own devices (up to 5 installs per purchase), the server records only an irreversible SHA-256 hash of the purchase token and a random device installation UUID. No user identity, name, or Google account email is collected or stored.

4. Permissions Requested and Why

The app requests only minimal, standard permissions necessary for operation:

• android.permission.INTERNET: Used exclusively to contact Google Play Services and verify the cryptographic purchase token when unlocking premium content. All learning modules, lessons, dictionaries, and games function 100% offline.
• com.android.vending.BILLING: Required by the Google Play Billing Library to process optional in-app purchases.
• android.permission.VIBRATE: Provides optional gentle haptic feedback during letter tracing exercises and quiz answers to reinforce correct stroke motions.

We do NOT request camera, microphone, contacts, SMS, external storage, phone state, or location permissions.

5. Third-Party Services & Advertising

Zero Advertisements: Learn Tai Ahom contains zero third-party advertisements, banner ads, or interstitial video ads.

No Third-Party Analytics: We do not integrate third-party tracking or advertising SDKs (such as Google AdMob, Facebook Audience Network, AppsFlyer, or Firebase Analytics).

6. Children’s Privacy (COPPA & GDPR-K Compliance)

Because Learn Tai Ahom is an educational language learning tool suitable for students, educators, and children of all ages:

• We strictly comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR-K).
• We do not knowingly collect, solicit, or maintain any personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in the European Union).
• There are no social networking features, chat rooms, or public profile pages in the application.

7. Security Practices

All communication with Google Play APIs and the purchase verification endpoint occurs exclusively over TLS/HTTPS (Transport Layer Security). Educational assets are safeguarded using authenticated ChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption on device to prevent unauthorized tampering.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy periodically to reflect app updates or regulatory obligations. Any revisions will be published directly on this URL with an updated "Effective Date."
