A Lifetime of Dedication

Utpal Phukan is a computer programmer and language technology expert who has dedicated his career to the digitalization of Assamese and Tai Ahom languages.

Starting in 2012, he recognized the gap in digital tools for regional languages. What began as a request from friends turned into a lifelong mission: Project JAHNABI.

He has been developing software since 2007 and is proficient across a wide range of technologies, including Go, Rust, .NET, Next.js, and microservice-based architectures. His passion lies in designing and building highly scalable systems, and he consistently keeps himself updated with the latest advancements in technology.

Over the last decade, he has developed nine major software tools, including the widely used Rupantarak converter, Jahnabi Keyboard, and DRISTI OCR. His work has empowered thousands of writers, publishers, and government officials to work seamlessly in their native language.
